Seinäjoen Yhteiskoulu

Seinäjoen Yhteiskoulu is a lively secondary school. We
have about 550 pupils in the grades 7th-9th and 45 teachers in our school. Our headmaster is Jari Noponen.

As a speciality our school has sports classes. It means that two groups of pupils in each grade have three lessons sports per week. Other classes have P.E. two lessons per week. Sports classes also have other extra activities concerning varied range
of sports when they participate for example in a "campschool" or
have a "sporty day" in Kuortane sports resort.

Marttila School

Marttila School was founded in 1878. The present school building in the centre of Seinäjoki dates back to the year 1930. Here You can see the oldest part of our school.

At the moment there are about 430 pupils in our school and 39 teachers.In 2007-2008 there are
- 14 mainstream classes (grades 1-6)

- 1 special teaching start class (grades 1-2)

- 7 special teaching groups with adapted curriculum (grades1-9)

- 8 special teaching groups for pupils with impairedhearing (grades: pre-school – 9)

- 2 special teaching groups for pupils with difficulties inadapting (grades 3-6)
Seinäjoki music classes (grades 3-6) are also in Marttila school.

Alakylä primary school

This is Alakylä school. In this picture you can see the old school building, which is more than 90 years old and the new playground. There are about 300 pupils and 17 teachers and a headmaster in our school. There are 12 classes, 2 of each grade.

Seinäjoen lyseo

Seinäjoen lyseo is a junior high school with 41 teachers and 510 pupils in the grades 7th - 9th. Every grade has one group specialized in music. Our school has its roots outside the Finnish borders. It was founded in 1893 in Sortavala, in Carelia. The school continued its work in Seinäjoki after the war 1944.Our school building is now being renovated. Honkakylä Primary School

Honkakylä school is a small school in the country. The village of Honkakylä belongs to the town of Seinäjoki. The school is just by the Seinäjoki river in a very beautiful area. There are also forests, fields and swamps near to our school. The distance to the commercial and administrative centre is about 16 kilometres.
There are two teachers and 31 pupils in our school. The youngest children are 6 years old and the oldest 12 years old. There are also three teachers who visit our school once or twice a week teaching some special subjects. Teaching language in our school is Finnish but children are learning English and some of them learn Swedish too.

Seinäjoki Upper Secodnary School

One of the biggest upper secondary schools in Finland providing general education for students from 15 to 19 years of age with separate evening classes for students of all ages.
